"Racing is something that is inside of me. I feel like I was born to race, like it's something I'm supposed to do. When I had to stop racing in the 90s, I felt as if some part of me died inside. Being back in the saddle again and being competitive has brought me back to life again."

Mike Eglington has been chosen to compete in the Triumph Triple Challenge Championship; a one-make series and something he has always wanted to do.

The Championship

This prestigious series, not only hopes to attract some of the most gifted young riders in the country, but also and uniquely for a series of this kind, opens the door to some exceptionally talented but more mature riders.

Entry to the series is by acceptance only, and Mike had to submit a racing CV and an overall summary of championship/race results. He was accepted into the series shortly after submitting this information.

The nature of the race series will allow riders to display their skills on a level playing field. All bikes will be evenly matched with strictly enforced regulations to ensure that no rider can benefit from performance enhancements that other riders may be unable to afford.

The Races

All events will run in conjunction with the Bemsee Racing Club and will feature in nine rounds of their Club Championship. This format will include two qualifying sessions followed by one Superpole race and two Supersport races.

The grid will be formed of up to 38 riders at each event as they battle for their championships over twenty-seven exhilarating races. Each grid will be divided into two groups with each one operating it own Championship. Points will be awarded in each class accordingly, with the first three riders from the Michelins Young Guns and the Triumph Triple Challenge receiving podium positions, as well as three overall winners from the combined Championships.

The Prizes

Points and trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers regardless of the overall results in each race.

At the conclusion of the Championship prizes will be awarded to the overall top three winners.

1st place: The race bike will be tuned and prepared to Supersport spec by T3 Racing and Bob Farnham Tuning. The winner will be run at MRO for a full season under the management of T3 Racing with access and introductions to all series sponsors. The winner will also receive an all expenses paid trip to Michelins test track in France for a day, where they will be taught how to evaluate tyres on a range of bikes by Christian or Dominic Sarron. Included in this course will be high speed machine control.

2nd place: A brand new road going Triumph Daytona 675 plus inclusion in the above Michelin Tyre Evaluation Course.

3rd place: A voucher for £2000.00 to spend on Teng Tools plus inclusion in the above Michelin Tyre Evaluation Course.

The rider with the highest number of Championship points after 6 rounds will be given an opportunity to ride the No2 T3/Interserve Supersport spec bike at a round of BSS.

The Bike

Triumph Daytona 675

The stunning Daytona 675 is the weapon of choice for the Triple Challenge.

Each rider will be supplied with a new Daytona 675 complete with a race preparation kit (Race fairing, footrests and exhaust can).

Tightly enforced regulations will prevent riders carrying out any engine tuning modifications, eliminating the high preparation and maintenance costs borne by so many riders simply to turn up on the grid with a competitive machine.

The motorcycles will be run in by T3 on the Dyno before being released and power checks recorded. T3 will then conduct random Actia checks and Dyno runs at its discretion.

No modifications will be allowed to the machine unless the part has been homologated for the series.
