"Racing is something that is inside of me. I feel like I was born to race, like it's something I'm supposed to do. When I had to stop racing in the 90s, I felt as if some part of me died inside. Being back in the saddle again and being competitive has brought me back to life again."

KRC Endurance Championship
Round 4 - Snetterton - July 30

Riders:
Mike Eglington, Tony Jimenez, Nick Davey

Pit Crew:
Phill Haynes, James Haynes, Martin Childs, Dave Peach, Nick Davey, Stefan Tass, Andy Od, Roy Hood, Nick Hurrell

Timekeepers:
Karen Tass, Debbie Childs, Candice Haynes, Emma Jimenez

Bike:
2006 Yamaha R6

This race was over 8 hours rather than the usual 6, so more fuel stops and tyre changes are required keeping the pit crew busy. All the riders were on a high after the good results earlier on this month at Pembrey.

Practice / Qualifying - Saturday 30th July
Practice went without a hitch as all the riders have known this circuit like the back of their hand.

The usual race start with Mike on the R6. I have probably mentioned before that we always like the big chaps to start the race as they have more chance in keeping the bike upright should there be any “elbows at dawn” at the start.

Race Start
The race started well for Mike and the R6 1st in class by the end of the first lap.

11:02 – Mike came in for the scheduled fuel and rider change keeping us 1st in class. Tony started his first session but only lasted a couple of laps coming in slowly with a puncture, believe it or not the complete valve had fallen out and into the tyre…….never seen anything like it. At least it happened in a safe place….flat out down the back straight, Tony was a little rattled to say the least, but with a new tyre he was back out having lost a couple of laps and now 4th in class. Still another 7 hours so plenty of time to get back the positions we had lost.

12:20 – Nick now out in his first session and lapping as fast as any 600 on the track had boosted us to 3rd in class.

12:44 – Nick in for a scheduled stop with Mike out and a fresh set of tyres.

14:10 – Tony putting in some good times enabled us to jump ahead of 120+ racing to be 2nd in class. All looking good for Moores Moto, with riders lapping consistently fast and the bike flawless at the midway point.

15:00 – Tony in for a scheduled stop fuel only and Mike out.

15:24 – All going well with Mike gaining another position to be 2nd in class.

16:04 – Mike in Nick out with new tyres

16:33 – Nick lapping consistently and keeping the pressure on leading 600 M2 Racing

17:03 - Nick in and Tony out with only a refuel and still holding 7th place and 2nd in class

18:00 - Tony rode a steady last hour to bring the bike back in 2nd place in class. A great result for the Moore's Moto Team and some useful points.

Some nice tin ware for the R6 boys and yet again "oldest team".
