"Racing is something that is inside of me. I feel like I was born to race, like it's something I'm supposed to do. When I had to stop racing in the 90s, I felt as if some part of me died inside. Being back in the saddle again and being competitive has brought me back to life again."

Practice - Friday 19th May
Strong winds and showers are not the best conditions for the riders to get themselves dialled in and the bikes setup. Most of the team met in the local hotel for some nosh and a couple of beers.

Race Day - Saturday 20th May
The day started gloomy with the forecast for showers and cool temperatures, nothing that our riders could not handle with some of then relishing the chance of rain. Qualifying went well although a small shower did spoil the chance of faster lap times, with the R6 in 17th position.

Strategy for the race would depend mostly on the fuel consumption. We had not raced the R6 although practice had indicated that we should get at least 60mins in the dry.

Race Start

It was touch and go if the rain would hold as the bike had to be on the grid 30mins before the start but luckily it did. Mike held onto 3rd in class with a cracking start.

13:10 – Mike had a cracking last 30mins to end the first hour 1st in class.

14:00 – Tony came in for a scheduled fuel stop now 2nd in class and handed over to Nick.

14:28 – As expected the heavens opened, torrential rain and much activity in all pits to call riders into get wet tyres. Unfortunately confusion in the melee meant both bikes came in at the same time. Frantic work by the pit crew managed to turn both bike round in super quick time.

15:00 – Nick had been putting consistently fast laps to get the R6 into 2nd in class.

15:24 – Nick hand over to Mike.

15:30 – Disaster, Mike had a low speed tumble at Russells and picked up a bit of concussion in the process. Luckily the tumble was at the nearest bend to the pit entrance. Nothing broken on the bike it was quickly refuelled and Tony sent on his was joining 16th position.

16:54 – Scheduled stop for the R6 saw Nick take over from Tony (Mike still concussed was not fit enough to ride again)

17:00 – The R6 with Nick at the helm was holding a healthy 3rd in class.

17:25 – Nick indicated that he needed to pit , we called him in and he explained that the bike was losing power. As it was so close to the end it was decided to nurse the bike home for the last 35 minutes.

18:00 – The whole team on the pit wall cheered Nick who kept us 3rd in class. Great result for the Moore 's Moto team considering Mike's tumble.

Stunning times from the riders and clinical pit work, and not forgetting our very wet time keepers to prove yet again Moore 's Moto to be one of the most professional teams in the series.

Many thanks to KRC and the Marshals
