"Racing is something that is inside of me. I feel like I was born to race, like it's something I'm supposed to do. When I had to stop racing in the 90s, I felt as if some part of me died inside. Being back in the saddle again and being competitive has brought me back to life again."

Well the season is upon us again and what a a venue to start at, the world famous Brands Hatch. Not the full circuit this time but the Indy circuit enough to make you dizzy!

Practice / Qualifying Sun 17th April 2006

Practice and qualifying went well with the R6 having a few "new" bike issues in 18th position. Mike was elected to make the LeMans start on the R6.

Race Start 12:00 Mike got away well on the R6 He put in a good solid stint and ended the first hour 3rd in class.

13:00 Tony was next out on the R6 and was able to put in some good consistent laps to keep the 3rd in class at the end of the 2nd hour.

14:00 Nick back in the saddle after 2 yrs in semi-retirement surprised us all by putting some cracking times but could only stay out for approx. 30mins due to rear tyre wear.

14:30 Mike now out for his 2nd session indicated that he needed to come in just before the 3hr mark for an unscheduled stop. Mike said the bike had suddenly lost power as if it was starving of fuel even though it still had a least 10 litres. The bike was not overheating and with a quick visual check we decided to just refuel and send Tony out for his 2nd session. This unscheduled stop had lost us a couple of laps but we were still 3rd in class.

15:35 After about the same amount of time Tony indicated that he needed to come in with the same mysterious power loss. It had a to be a fuel starvation issue and without taking the pump apart we would just have to refuel and keep going as long as possible.

This problem carried on until the end of the race with the team having to re-fuel six times in the last two hours. As expected we lost a great deal of time but still managed 3rd in class.

Not the best start to the season but things can only get better. The R6 fuelling issue was traced to a blockage in the tank / pump but we still finished 3rd in class.

Many thanks to KRC and the Marshals
