"Racing is something that is inside of me. I feel like I was born to race, like it's something I'm supposed to do. When I had to stop racing in the 90s, I felt as if some part of me died inside. Being back in the saddle again and being competitive has brought me back to life again."

Eglington Headhunted for Endurance Team

January 15, 2005 - Mike Eglington has been headhunted to race with KRC championship winning team, Moores Racing.

Moores Racing had wanted Mike to race with the team for a couple of years but only managed to entice him this year with an offer he couldn't refuse.

The team was formed in 1999 to contest the KRC National Motorcycle Endurance Series and is a multi championship winning team. Last year, they finished 2nd in Class C after a hard-fought series but they are looking to win the championship this year.

The name Moore’s comes from the team's main sponsor Moore’s Motorcycles, a Yamaha dealer in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, who provides the team with the race bike as well as spares and logistics.

The core team consists of 13 people comprising the Team Manager, 3 Riders, 3 Timekeepers and 6 Mechanics and Pit Crew.

Team manager and rider Tony Jimenez said: "We're delighted to have someone of Mike's calibre who is fast, consistent and a pleasure to work with. We expect some nice surprises from him this year as he'll finally be on a bike that will do his riding capability justice".

Mike's endurance experience goes back to the early 80s when he was a regular championship winner. He returned to endurance racing in 2000 when he was given the opportunity to race a one-off with Coyote Racing after their regular rider was injured. The one-off ride turned into a 4-year tenure with Coyote until the end of the last year when Mike decided to concentrate on his solo racing.

However, Tony gave Mike an offer he couldn't refuse and Mike was delighted to accept a ride and a place on the Moores team for 2005.

"I've always admired Moores Racing," said Mike. "The team is very professional, works extremely well together and the riders have always been ultra competitive. I'm looking forward to helping the team win the championship this year."

Mike will also be joined by 19-year old James Hurrell, the BMCRC Clubman 1000 Champion who will be competing in his first season of endurance.
