"It was great to be back in the saddle again, knowing that I've got a full season of racing ahead of me and not just a one-off ride. I was relaxed and enjoying all of it. As the season progresses, I'll find my pace and get back into the full swing of things."

Best team result at Pembrey

May 26, 2002 - British Endurance Racing Team Coyote Racing, riding together only for the 3rd time, took their Yamaha YZF R1 to 7th place in Class C, earning them 7 class championship points and 7 rider points each.

In a change of our normal race order Mike Eglington started the race and after a couple of warm up laps was consistently lapping in 1 minute 5 seconds. This moved Coyote Racing up to 12th place after the first hour.

Shaun Finch seemed to get the worst of the Pembrey weather when the hair pin at the end of the straight flooded, making the corner torturous, particularly on dry tyres. Shaun was lapping at 1 minute 8 seconds, but the hair pin gradually turned into a river, making it impossible to lean the bike over to get round it.

After an hour and a half and a couple of crashes, the organisers suspended the race to clear the water, giving rider Shelley Pike a good session without incident.

Eglington’s second session also gave consistent lapping in the low 1 minute 5 seconds and he set the best lap record for the team at 1:04:79. The race was suspended again due to flooding and when Mike returned from this session to hand over to Shelley it was clear how hard he had been pushing the bike. The fairing on the right hand side and the engine casing on the left were both scraped because he was leaning the bike over so far!

Shelley again took to the track breaking her own personal best lap with a time of 1:10:72, and much to her pleasure, overtook Mike Oldknow, for Coyote racer who now races for Road Runner Racing.

Shaun finished the race with his own personal best lap on the R1 with a time of 1:06:37 and crossed the line to finish 7th in class and 20th overall, from 44 starters.

This result is Coyote Racing's best finish so far, and was the first race that was completed without incident or problems. The pit crew, as always, did a fantastic job of getting the bike ready, fuelling and checking the bike at each pit stop. The girls on the pit wall kept the riders fully informed of their lap times and any other information they needed. After only three races together the whole team is now one of the "slickest" in the pit lane.
