"In a sense, we worked for the HMSO, just like any other employee, selling their books and promoting their company. On the other hand, I was riding in the British Championships with fans asking for my autograph. It was quite an experience."

HMSO backing for Eglington

Eastern Evening News - April 28, 1990

Motor cycle racer Mike Eglington has landed backing from HMSO books in Norwich, as part of a promotion campaign for their new book "How safe is your motor cycle?"

Eglington, 33, will race a 250cc Suzuki in the British 400 Championship and hopes that the combination of a well-prepared bike, capable of over 135mph and his considerable riding experience, will bring top-ten placings in the highly competitive class.

In return, the Cambridge-based rider will be sporting HMSO's colours and selling their driving-related books at the circuits on race days.

The season starts (this Saturday) on April 28 and the Championship is decided over eight meetings around the country. Although it is a learning year for Mike, he admits that with good results he would like to progress to top level racing in Europe.
