"It was quite a good race. The one thing I was really impressed with was that Gavin Ramsay had a serious crash which pretty much mutilated his elbow. Even though he was given an injection, he was still in a lot of pain, but went out and rode anyway. That was top class."

Bike SA - November 5 1985

Gavin Ramsay had pole position by less than a tenth of a second from Jamie Thomas. Third on the grid was Gary Labuschagne followed by Mike Eglington and Steven Greenshields. On the first lap it was Thomas, Labuschagne, Gavin Ramsay, Gary Thomas and Mike Eglington.

Once again the race developed into a straight battle between Jamie Thomas and championship leader Gavin Ramsay. it appeared that if Jamie could lead over the subway he would win because Gavin couldn't repass him before the start/finish line. However, even the best laid plans go wrong. Thomas, seeming with his game plan all worked out, was forced to go wide and off the circuit on the last lap as Ramsay dived up the inside of a back marker at the double left-hand turn just before the pits. The back marker got a fright and lifted his bike up forcing Thomas, who was trying to go around both them, off the circuit.

Gavin Ramsay thus won easily from Gary Labuschagne who took advantage of Jamie's motor crossing to finish second. Third was Jamie Thomas, fourth Ian McFadyean, fifth Mike Ramsay and sixth Clive Spencer.

Mike Eglington was unlucky not to finish higher than 7th after being right up with the leading bunch at the beginning. Mike locked up his front wheel on the brakes at the end of the main straight and lost three places.
